Description
Wheel Bolt/Lug Drill Guides allow you to drill out your axle and drum to a different bolt pattern. No need to purchase new axles to just change bolt/lug pattern. This listing is for the following Pattern:
5 x 4.5" & 4.75" to 5 x 4.5" & 4.75"
(Ford to Chevy and Chevy to Ford)
Please read all the information carefully before purchase!
It’s important to determine if your axles and flanges are a good candidate for re-drilling. On both axles inspect the locations of the new holes to find if there are any obstructions, pre-existing holes, or thin material that could cause failure of the components.
If you are drilling a Ford 9″ axle, check to see if there is a large access hole in the flange. If so, this drill guide will NOT work as the new lug pattern will fall within this hole and not allow for a complete redrill.
Parts included:
Drill guide
Instruction Sheet
Set of SHARP brand-new drill bits
Red Caps (If the multi-patterned drill guide is purchased)
Tools you will need: LOW SPEED drill, cutting oil, and torque wrench.
Please note that re-drilling requires removal of the brake components (to prevent damage) but DOES NOT REQUIRE REMOVAL OF AXLE
Important!
Drill Guides are set up to drill for 0.625” knurl lug studs and 1/2″ diameter.
Check your wheels to make sure they can accept 1/2″ studs. If you need a guide for 7/16″ studs, we can change out the guide tube and drill bit to accommodate. Please contact us for this request prior to ordering.
YOU ARE LIABLE IF RE-DRILLING WEAKENS THE COMPONENTS’ AND CAUSES FAILURE. IF YOU ARE UNSURE YOU MAY WANT TO HAVE A MECHANICAL ENGINEER LOOK AT THE PARTS TO DETERMINE IF RE-DRILLING IS SAFE.
NOTE:
We do
NOT
make a drill guide to change the number of lug studs (4 to 5 lug, 6 to 5 lug). There is not enough material left between one of the new holes and an existing hole to deem it safe and acceptable. In this case, new axles should be made to accommodate the change in lug studs.
