GERALD R. FORD - HAND SIGNED TYPED LETTER + Envelope 10/31/1974

PRICE REDUCTION on this incredible piece of history. This auction is for a HAND SIGNED letter (and corresponding envelope) which is dated October 31, 1974 (Halloween 1974!) typed on 6.75” x 8.75 cardstock with a prominent “woven linen” watermark and White House letterhead below an embossing of the official Seal of the President of the United States. The letterhead reads “THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON” in blue centered below the embossed seal. In the letter, typed in black ink, President Ford recognizes a supporter’s assistance and courtesy during a visit to Chicago on October 24 with thanks and warm wishes, and is hand signed by the President: Gerald R. Ford, in black ink. Several examples of similar letters signed by the President in the same year are offered on eBay and elsewhere for 00+ and it is incredibly rare to find one still mated with its envelope. The envelope lists THE WHITE HOUSE as the return address, printed in blue, bears a 10 cent stamp depicting two crossed flags—the contemporary American flag and the flag of the original thirteen colonies of the United States printed in red, white, and blue. It is postmarked NOV 5 1974 WASHINGTON DC. The letter was opened cleanly with a letter opener. If you have any questions or desire additional photos we are happy to be of assistance.
