Description
Soapwort is a perennial in the carnation family. The plant has soap-like properties due to a high concentration of saponins in the roots. Mixed with water or herb infusions, powdered soapwort root produces gentle suds, making it useful in preparing bath products.Liquid soap can be made by boiling the fresh leaves in water. A natural soap liquid can also be made by combining powdered soapwort root with water, and a few drops of essential oil if desired.
