  • Condition: Good condition with nice patina. The sweatband is in poor shape. It is broken near the adjustment buckle, and on the side. Lots of wear on the leather.

    Description

    Original WWII US M1 helmet.
    Front seam, fixed loops manufactured by McCord Radiator Co, heat stamp 640B (Summer/Fall 1943) with original OD3 chinstraps w/ brass hardware. Note that the heat stamp is located on the side of the helmet, rather than towards the front, near the seam.
    The long chinstrap is also an interesting one. It appears to be made of thicker material. I am not sure if it was replaced on the field, or if it is a factory variation. The bar tack is period original, and the hardware is also original.
    Comes with original Seaman high pressure liner with OD3 suspension, original nape band and sweatband.
    The shell retains its original paint and shows a nice field-applied rank painted with yellow paint on the front. The liner also retains its original factory-applied paint, with minor paint loss. New York 'NY' scratched in the front of the liner. The silhouette of a plane is also scratched in the top of the liner.
    Overall a great early set, complete with nice field wear.
